So I’ve installed my very own wiki. No real reason for it, so just have some fun, if you feel like it. But just keep it clean.

reBlog Blog
I use reBlog as by [tag]RSS reader[/tag]. There aren’t too many sites I keep track of, only like 20-25. I like it because it’s set up on bastone.org, so I don’t have to worry about something going wrong with the other sites out there, like Bloglines or Netvibes.
One of the functions you can is publish items that interest you to a blog. I’ve done just that, publishing the articles I like here. I’ve also played around with the WordPress plugin, and the layout is a bit clunky. That blog is here.
Do you use an RSS reader? If so, what do you use?
Oblong Oreos
We have had a problem for much too long. When we are eating Oreo cookies, we dunk the cookie in milk. But when trying to shove that whole cookie in your mouth, some milk inevitably will get on the side of your mouth, creating quite the mess.
Kraft has solved our problems by introducing the Oblong Oreo. I say it’s about time. Anything that can make my dunking Oreos easier is fine by me. Sharon says otherwise. They have been making round Oreos forever, and we’ve been able to dunk them with no problems. There’s no need to mess around with tradition.
Time will tell if this works out. The new Oreos will be in stores in June and July. The success (or lack thereof) will determine if they are a permanent fixture or not.

Jumping the Gun
I think [tag]Amazon[/tag] sent this a little early.

The [tag]NCAA Tournament[/tag] does finish tonight, and they do need to get a jump on selling all that crap, but doesn’t someone look at this before it gets sent?
Anyway, congrats to the [placeholder for winning team]! Job well done!
Google Romance
Google has done it again, diving into the world of matchmaking with Google Romance.
What else will they get in to? Oh, you did check the calendar, right?

Upgrading WordPress
I’m going to be upgrading WordPress this weekend. The site might look a little odd for a while, and I hope I don’t break it!
Update – 3/28/06 8:46pm – The upgrade is (mostly) complete. I’ve installed another photo gallery. So all of those other galleries are gone. Well, at least they won’t be updated anymore.
President Bush can’t get any love.
Jessica Simpson, of reality TV and bad movie fame, declined to meet the President at a Republican charity event. Why? Because it was at a political event, and she keeps her political views private. Umm, sure.
I’ve never really thought of Jessica Simpson as a political activist. Then again, I never really thought of her as a singer or TV personality. I mean, when you’re upstaged by Miss Piggy on Pizza Hut ads, your career is not looking so good.
Krispy Kreme Burger?
How about eating a Krispy Kreme doughnut along with your bacon cheddar cheeseburger? A minor league baseball team is introducing a Krispy Kreme burger at ballgames.
This sounds pretty disgusting. I prefer to have my burger and dessert separately, thank you. I’m sure someone will like it, or just try it for the sake of trying it.
I’ve been up since about 12:30am, when Sharon got me and told me it was my turn to feed Julia. Around 2:00am, I finally got Julia to sleep. Her next feeding was around 4:00am, and I’m getting ready to hand off Julia to Sharon so I might be able to get to sleep before the sun rises. Anyway, just some totally random thoughts that I’ve had lately:
- Thank goodness the Olympics are on now. There is nothing on TV, unless horrible movies on Spike count.
- On a related note, late night TV commercials are horrible. Informercials for juicers, old TV shows, and Girls Gone Wild are even worse.
- Julia can be calmed down (sort of) by putting her in her car seat, then placing the car seat on the dryer and running it. It really works.
- Babies make many random noises. Julia grunts, snorts, sighs, and has many hiccups.
- We had a little snow yesterday. Since it was very warm (about 70) on Friday, it melted when it hit the road. But it did coat the grass. How is that reported here? We got a half inch of snow. Whatever.
- I think Fiona (the kitty) is a bit jealous of Julia. She likes the bassinet, and we have had to make sure that Fiona doesn’t try to get in the bassinet while Julia is in there. It happened once, but Julia didn’t even notice.
- I’ve got a lot of pictures of Julia that I want to scan and put online. Of course, I need some time to do it. I also want to revamp the picture gallery. And upgrade the blog to v2. All in due time, I guess.
Well, it’s starting to get a little light out. I need to get to sleep before it gets too bright.
Outsource Your Order?
I’m not sure I understand this.
In an effort to reduce costs and speed up drive-thru times, fast food restaurants are looking at some, well, interesting methods. One is to monitor the food on hand with the queue, and make educated guesses as to what will be ordered. But more interestingly, some restaurants are looking at using call centers for taking their orders. From CNN:
…some stores are using central call centers rather than cashiers in the restaurant to take orders from drive-thru customers.
Now it doesn’t say where these call centers are located, but whenever I think of call centers, I think of India. So following my (likely flawed) logic, if I want to order something at McDonalds, I might end up talking to someone in India. And in their best-effort-but-still-really-bad English, they’ll ask if I want fries with that. I’m really having a hard time understanding how this would really save any money. Someone still has to be there to collect your money and give you your food.
What am I missing?
