Sharon on TV

Our home builder, THP, laid off all their employees on Monday, leaving us with a half finished community. The local NBC affiliate was in the area yesterday afternoon, looking for people who had placed deposits on houses, only to be left with nothing. (Note to NBC10: they don’t live here yet because their house isn’t finished.)

Sharon went out there to talk with some other homeowners, and ended up getting pushed into an interview. She ended up in the clip below. It’s toward the end of the clip, and I think what they used really makes it look like Sharon is losing a deposit.

Conversations With Julia – Part 4

More gold from Julia…

A few days ago, I had given Julia and Kaitlyn their vitamins. They love it; Sharon or I can just say “Who wants vitamins?” and they jump up and down and run to the kitchen.

Anyway, I give them their vitamins, and remind them to say “Thank You.” Most of the time, they are good about it, but they had forgotten that night.

Julia and Kaitlyn: Thank You.
Me: You’re welcome. I want my girls to be kind.
Julia: Kind?
Me: Yes, kind is to be nice to other people.
Julia, thinking for a few seconds: I’m not kind… I’m pretty.

At that point, it struck me that we’re raising a diva…

Conversations With Julia

This took place last night. Julia was having a tea party, and Sharon and I were sitting at the (play) table in her kitchen (in the living room).

Julia: The A and the T and H all broke!
Me: They all broke? Oh, no!
Julia: Yeah… it was an awful scene.

At this point Sharon is laughing uncontrollably on the floor. I’m laughing. And Julia is looking at us, wondering what in the world is going on.

I came to find out later that Julia was referencing a WorldWord episode, where a hat broke.

Conversation with Julia

Kaitlyn has just pulled out the plug to the computer, knocking out all the work Sharon was doing on editing some pictures…

Sharon: No, Kaitlyn! That was bad!

Kaitlyn walks away. Julia comes over to see what the commotion is. Sharon points out that Kaitlyn pulled out the plug from the wall, and that’s bad.

Julia: Oh my goodness!
Julia, to Kaitlyn: Don’t do that, K-K! That was very bad! Very, very bad! You don’t do that!

I had to turn away to laugh.

Julia’s Third Birthday

Julia turned 3 on Saturday, and we had a party for her. I can’t believe she’s already three years old! I still vividly remember taking Sharon to the hospital at 4am, then waiting, and waiting, and waiting some more. I remember cradling Julia and taking her right to the nursery from the OR, scared out of my mind that I was going to trip and fall. And now she’s three!

Quick PSA: When not to attend a party

If your child is sick the night before a party, please please please, don’t bring that child to that party. We understand, and we wouldn’t take our sick child to your party.

Kaitlyn was ill last night, and left us with quite a mess to clean up. Now this wouldn’t have been as bad if Kaitlyn were in her own room. But she was in our room, along with Julia, because the family was in town and using their rooms.

So imagine trying clean up a vomit covered crib at midnight, with Julia fast asleep only a few feet away. If Julia wakes up, count on losing another hour trying to get her back to sleep. Good times.

Kaitlyn continues to make her silly face. Of course, Julia needs to get in on the action, making silly faces of her own.

So the timing is a little off. This is the what Julia and Kaitlyn dressed as for Halloween. Julia was a princess, and Kaitlyn was a cheerleader.
