So while heading up to Indiana this weekend for a long overdue visit with Sharon’s family, we started going through the first of two tunnels.
Julia has never been through a tunnel before.
Her reaction was something of a shock. She got all concerned, but didn’t say anything at all. Instead, her eyes got really big, she looked straight ahead, and froze until we got through the tunnel.
By the second tunnel, she really didn’t care anymore. I wonder what will happen this weekend when we head back…
So Julia is starting to “dance” when music plays. This is an older video I took of her in the act. Look for the video after the jump.
So after a long absence, the picture gallery updates are back. This one is big. I’ve uploaded over 110 pictures of Julia since late February.

I don’t know why there is such huge spaces after below each row of pictures. I’m not a CSS master, and there’s a mess of it behind this site. I plan on tinkering around with it and see what the problem is.
So Julia had a big day today.
She started by going to the Children’s Museum. That was a lot of fun because she got to be very social and she got to play with her new friend Ireland. And Julia got to wander all over the place.
I didn’t get to go, but it looks like a really nice place. And if Julia really likes it, I’m sure we’ll be going there many more times.
I do have a video of Julia there, but I still need to encode it. Hopefully, I’ll have time to do it tomorrow.
So Julia has been getting a bit more brazen in her attempts to walk. We finally decided to try and record one the attempts.
Now she can walk, and has been able to for a few weeks now. The problem is the desire to walk. Right now, she can crawl faster than she can walk, so crawling wins out. I have a feeling it won’t be too long until she starts walking faster than she can crawl.
Until then, I’m okay with Julia continuing to crawl. The sooner she walks, the sooner she is getting into even more stuff.

So Julia has had quite the busy month. She turned 1, went to the doctor (four shots!), played at the hand lab thing, had a big birthday party, and visited with her grandparents, her great-grandma, and her aunt Susan.
Julia has also started walking a bit, but still isn’t too confident about walking a lot. And she’s developed a bit of an independent streak as well. She has to feed herself most of the time, and she has quite the temper when she gets frustrated.
I’ve also uploaded a bunch of pictures of Julia. Enjoy!

Julia celebrated her very first birthday yesterday! Now her party isn’t for a little bit, but we gave her a couple presents anyway. There were some books and a ball popper thingy. For dinner, she helped herself to a mixture of mashed potatoes, acorn squash, and a little chicken thrown in. Then she had a really nice conversation with Grandma.
We also have some video with Julia playing with the ball popper. I’ll try to upload that this weekend.

I haven’t exactly been writing a whole lot this month, and I really haven’t said much about Julia lately. She is doing great, and has been learning all sorts of new things. Still not walking, but cruising all over the place. Sharon lines up the furniture and some toys so Julia can cruise throughout the living room and dining room. Julia is also learning to put shapes in her shape sorter (circles so far, no triangles or squares), babbling on and on, saying Mommy and Daddy every once in a while, and ‘playing’ the xylophone. In fact, Julia absolutely loves the mallet that came with the xylophone, she crawls around with it, hitting stuff, scraping it across tables, the floor, the cat tree, whatever is around.
I posted some pictures last week too. Here’s some I like.

Happy New Year! To get started the year off right, I’ve uploaded a bunch of pictures of Julia over the holidays. Here’s a few of my favorites.
