My grandfather, Frank Bastone, passed away on January 14 after a long battle with cancer. I was in NY last week for the funeral. It was sad of course, but he’s in a better place now.

Frank Bastone, a retired manager for American Laundry in Monticello, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis after a long battle with cancer.
The son of the late Joseph Bastone and Sadie Lombardi Bastone, he was born May 10, 1923 in New York City.
Frank was a member of St. Peterâ€™s Church in Monticello where he was active as a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus; He was also active in the Boy Scouts when he was younger and served in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Jean DiIanni Bastone, at home; three sons: Dennis Bastone & his wife Marilyn, Michael Bastone & his wife Reesie, and Anthony Bastone & his wife Melissa, all of Monticello; five grandchildren: Joseph, Christopher, Susan, Brad & Fallon; three great grandchildren: Anthony, Alex & Julia; a brother: Raymond Bastone of Mahopac; a special brother-in-law: Michael DiIanni of Monticello; and several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by a grandson: Ken Bastone.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16 from 2 -4 and 7 â€“ 9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 17 at 11:00am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of oneâ€™s choice.
