I finally have pictures of the house posted online! The color scheme in the bedrooms is gone, so check back for updated pictures.
Angie’s last day at Macaroni Grill was last Friday. Me, being always prompt about posting this kind of stuff, have just gotten around to writing about it.
I also started another photo gallery up using a plugin for wordpress. It’s much easier than 4images, and does everything I need it to do.
Back to Angie’s last day… She got attacked with a mixture of flour, water, salad dressings, pasta sauces, and anything else nasty her coworkers could muster up. I even got to take a couple pictures.
Travel Recap
So we started a trek to Indiana and Chicago a couple weeks ago, and got back last Friday. I can’t say I was terribly impressed with our rented minivan, but it did have those seats that fold right into the floor, greatly increasing the amount of stuff we could haul. Our whirlwind tour of the midwest took us to Indiana on Saturday, Chicago on Monday, back to Indiana on Wednesday, and back to Greensboro on Friday. We travelled 1900 miles, collected a couch, a jogging baby stroller, a nightstand, lots of Sharon’s stuff she had when growing up, an area rug, and a small Casio keyboard. I’m not sure how it all fit in there, but we actually got in in.
Now we’ll have to rent a moving truck to get it all in the house.
Where is the space shuttle?
I thought this website is quite interesting. It is a Google Maps hack that combines data from NASA on the shuttle and space station. It’s close to real time, updating once a minute.
The Best Cities For Singles
Lucky for me, I’m happily married. This Forbes listing ranks the best cities for singles, and Greensboro comes in last.
Let’s run down the list: Nightlife, last. Coolness, last. Singles, next to last. We’re almost in the middle of the pack for cost of living, though. All right! We’re… uhh… #21 for that!
Watch out Norfolk! Greensboro is eyeing #39! Just a few more years until we move…
Simpsons Quotes
How have I not seen this site? Here’s a favorite of mine:
Homer: Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try.
Fighting toothlessness in Appalachia
This article reminds me of a gem Sharon had told Tyler several years ago on a trip from Indiana to Georgia.
Sharon: You know you’re in Kentucky when you see people who are missing their teeth.
A short while later, they pull into a gas station in Kentucky. Tyler saw a couple people sitting front, missing several front teeth. He was so excited that all he could point t them and tug at Sharon’s arm.
Coach paid kid to hurt disabled player
So a T-Ball coach paid a kid $25 to hurt a retarded teammate in order to win a game. It’s a T-Ball game! Where is the winning in that? I can’t believe that someone would be that competitive where winning a T-Ball game be that important.
I like this website. It’s quite interesting, you enter a zip code in, and it maps out the zip code. One thing that I didn’t like was how it kept the zip code highlighted when I entered a new zip code, and there was no way to clear out an entered zip code without reloading the page.
All in all, one of the better implementations of Google Maps that I’ve seen.
A Pint Lock for protecting those easily stolen pints of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.
Of course, it would be an easily broken lock, by breaking through the top of it. Of you could just cut the top of the container off. It’s a neat idea anyway.
