These cards look awesome. Why not take a set of ABC flash cards for kids and make them more complicated? It’s so easy to say that “A is for Apple” or “X is for X-ray fish.” But why not get a bit more technical? You know, “H is for Hydrogen Bonding” and “X is for Xylem?” Awesome.
Gas Tax Holiday
I’m glad to see nearly everyone is opposed to this gas tax holiday. Even better is that most people see it as a completely transparent attempt, especially on Clinton’s side, as attempting to court votes.
While we’re at it, why not have an income tax holiday for a few weeks in the summer? That would help a lot more than just repealing that silly old 18.4 cents per gallon tax. We need a real tax holiday, people! Sure, the government doesn’t need that money. They can just borrow it any have someone else pay for it later. It’s that thinking that has balloned our deficit to $9,361,427,723,127.68 (as of 9 May 2008 at 02:08:35 AM GMT) or over $30,000 per person.
Maybe we should start thinking about how we’re going to start paying that down?
Games I Like
Before I started playing Mario Kart, I stumbled on a few simple online games that I thought were pretty neat.
The first one is called Free Rice. The object is easy. You are shown a word. You pick (or guess) from one of the four definitions. If you’re right, they donate 20 grains of rice to the UN. It’s addictive too; I got up to about 400 grains of rice in just a few minutes.
The second game is Type Racer. It’s another simple concept. You type in a phrase or quote from a movie or book or song. While you’re doing this, you’re racing against other people, typing in the same thing. I can only manage about 60 wpm, which, when compared to the competition, isn’t that great.
We’ve had a Wii for a little bit, and I always thought Julia would really like it. She really didn’t take to it right away, mainly because of the coordination with swinging and releasing buttons.
But you don’t need to use any buttons to play the boxing game that comes with the Wii. So Julia takes to punching the bag, and has a blast doing it. Check out the video of her doing it, and this was only after playing the game for a few minutes.

A Mean Looking Bike

This just looks mean. A company in the UK has put the front of a bike on a wheelchair. Supposedly, it’s supposed to be for people in rehabilitation. But it just looks downright mean to me.
What do you think? Useful? Mean? Pointless?
Kaitlyn has finally figured out how to crawl. It only took a couple days for her to be getting all over the place. This video is from her early days of learning this whole crawling thing.

Julia loves shoes. Especially ones that make noise. So over Easter, she put on a little show on her own little stage.

Julia was very deliberate in painting this bird house. It was a birthday present for her Grandpa Fox. The only help she had was Sharon cleaning the paintbrush and opening each color as Julia wanted it. Other than that, the whole creation was Julia’s doing.

Julia has been singing during dinner lately. She even will occasionally sing on demand, like she did here.
